    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic welding device which can weld a work to be welded so as to impart a desirable strength thereto without fail and can correctly judge the welded condition of the work. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic welding device 1 includes the ultrasonic welder 4, a laser Doppler speedometer 5 and a control unit 6. The ultrasonic welding device 4 includes a tip 9 and an anvil 10 to pinch a FFC (flexible flat cable) as the work to be welded. The laser Doppler speedometer 5 detects the speed of the tip 9 and outputs it to the control unit 6. The control unit 6 calculates a power given to the tip 9 based on a voltage value and a current value applied to a piezoelectric vibrator of the ultrasonic welding device 4. The control unit 6 calculates a change rate of the power. When the change rate of the power gets not higher than a first predetermined value and then gets not lower than a second predetermined value, the control unit 6 calculates a total displacement amount of the tip 9 and stops the ultrasonic welding device 4 when the total displacement amount exceeds a third predetermined value. The control unit 6 judges the quality of the welded condition of FFC as the work to be welded based on the total displacement amount of the tip 9. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
