    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a separated scarf surface with excellent accuracy.
      SOLUTION: Grooves 10a having desired sectional shapes of the required number are formed in parallel in the width direction of a plate 10 by alternately repeating by the desired times the operation of forming the grooves 10a of the adequate number at an end of the plate 10 in a definitive (partial) manner by moving a groove machining member (not shown in the selected figure) in which one or a plurality of cutters having cutting blades of adequate shapes are fitted to a rotary shaft with spaces by amounts of n-sets of cutters (n denotes an integer not smaller than 1) from one another if there are the plurality of cutters in a diagonal manner with respect to surface and back sides of the end of the plate 10, and the operation of moving at least one of the plate 10 and the groove machining member in the width direction of the plate by the adequate distance. A member capable of restraining an end of the plate 10 is arranged by making use of right and left spaces or the like of each cutter, and at the time of forming the grooves, the groove is definitively formed while temporarily restraining a vicinity of a part in which a groove is newly formed.

Between opposite ends in the axial direction on the outer peripheral surface of at least one of a pair of the unit cutting tools adjacent to each other, replacement grooves 51 that are capable of receiving the replaceable blades are formed as extensions from the attachment grooves 25 of the other unit cutting tool.
