    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rational construction technology about prevention of excessive reaction torque around a long axis of a tool bit acting to a tool body and switching of work mode in an impact tool. SOLUTION: The impact tool has a motor 111 stored in the tool body; impact drive mechanisms 113, 115; a rotating drive mechanism 117; a clutch 134 for transmitting and interrupting torque between the motor 111 and the rotating drive mechanism 117; and a work mode switching member 171 for switching the work mode between a first work mode where the tool bit carries out impact action and a second work mode where the tool bit carries out at least rotating action. The clutch 134 interrupts torque transmission between the motor 111 and the rotating drive mechanism 117 corresponding to predetermined load generation during processing work. When the first work mode is selected, the torque transmission is interrupted between the motor 111 and the rotating drive mechanism 117. SOLUTION: A hand-held power tool has a tool body 103 and a motor 111 stored in the tool body 103 and applies predetermined processing work to a workpiece by the tip tool 119 that is rotated with the motor 111. The power tool has a first sensor 151 for detecting the torque state of the tip tool 119; a second sensor 159 for detecting the motion state of the tool body 103; and a torque interruption mechanism 134 for interrupting torque transmission between the motor 111 and the tip tool 119 on condition that the first sensor 151 and the second sensor 159 respectively detect preset thresholds of the first sensor 151 and the second sensor 159.
