摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball which has a suitable spin rate in a short game and can thus manifest a good controllability, yet which holds down the spin rate on shots with a driver, enabling an excellent flight performance to be achieved, and which moreover provides a good feel at impact.SOLUTION: In a golf ball including a core, an intermediate layer and a cover, the intermediate layer formed of an ionomer resin material having a high degree of neutralization is combined with a cover formed of a material that includes a first ionomer resin having a high unsaturated carboxylic acid content and a second ionomer resin having a low unsaturated carboxylic acid content. The golf ball is able to achieve a lower spin rate on full shots with a driver (W#1) without reducing the spin performance on approach shots in the short game, provides high levels of both flight performance and controllability, and also has a good feel at impact.

SOLUTION: A data constellation related to parameters dependent on the shapes of a surface are computed on the basis of the shapes of the surface appearing momentarily in prescribed locations by the spinning of a golf ball having many dimples on the surface. Preferable parameters are distances between the axis of spinning and the surface of the golf ball. Preferable another parameter is a volumetric capacity of the space between the surface of a virtual ball and the surface of the golf ball. On the basis of the maximum value and the minimum value of the data group, a fluctuation range is computed. The division of the fluctuation range by the total volumetric capacity of the dimples results in the value of evaluation. The value of evaluation is computed for PH spins and POP spins, respectively.
