    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible to reduce weight, curb transportation cost and endure earth pressure by providing specified permissible buckling load by a composite structure made of a resin obtained by forming a two-part cyclic olefin monomer by a reaction injection molding method and a metal. SOLUTION: In a molded piece 1 for a liner plate that forms a part of the circumference of a pit, a vertical flange 2 and a transverse flange 3 are joined by bolts and nuts. A corrugated rib 4 is provided along the circumference of the liner plate molded piece 1. The liner plate molded piece 1 is made a sandwich structure by mounting several sheets of metal plates on the surface and the rear thereof. The metal plates on the surface and rear are welded to a metal plate along the transverse flange 3 so that electric discharge may be smooth when stuck by lightning. The number of metal plates, their shape and arrangement are fixed so that the permissible buckling load of the liner plate may be 10 tons per m or higher and a resin-metal composite may endure deep earth pressure. A two-part cyclic olefin crosslinking polymer, a resin that can be injected in the form of a liquid and formed by a reaction injection molding method, is used.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the outer core part of a cooling tower which is light, excellent in power for bearing an external impact and can be easily manufactured by forming the outer core part of the cooling tower with a crosslinking polymer product of a metathesis polymerizable cyclic olefin whose Izod impact value is a specific value. SOLUTION: The outer core part of a cooling tower comprises a casing part 1 and a water tank part 3. The casing part is assembled by flange parts 2. Then, the casing part 1 and/or the water tank part 3 are formed with a crosslinking polymer product obtained by mixing a monomer liquid composed of a metathesis polymerizable cyclic olefine including the catalytic component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst with a monomer liquid composed of a metathesis polymerizable cyclic olefin including the activator component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst, filling a metal mold with the mixed liquid of the material and performing a polymerization and a crosslinking reaction in the metal mold. The Izod impact value of the crosslinking polymer product is not smaller than 10kg cm/cm.
