    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corneal implant whose shape can be reversibly deformed and that can pass through a corneal incision, which is equal to or smaller than half the size of the implant.SOLUTION: The corneal implant 50 is replaced with part of an anterior layer of a corneal, wherein a central optical element 52 protrudes forward from a limb 54. Preferably, the central optical element protrudes forward from the limb by 1-600 mm. More preferably, the central optical element protrudes forward from the limb by 50-400 mm. The central optical element 52 replaces a removed morbidity forward corneal tissue. The limb 54 is designed to partially or entirely surround the center of the optical element and to fit into a hollow around a corneal pocket so as to securely fix the corneal implant to the corneal.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for delivering a constrained corneal implant to a corneal pocket.SOLUTION: The system comprising a hollow member is used to deliver the constrained corneal implant into the corneal pocket. The hollow member may be tapered and the system may further include an implant deformation chamber and an axial pusher to advance the implant through the hollow member. The axial pusher includes a thin, flexible carrier for the implant and the carrier has edges which are everted together with the edges of the corneal implant. The corneal implant is constrained within the hollow passage on a distal side of the axial pusher.
