    • PURPOSE:To stably produce a cast ingot, which is difficult to develop surface defect, by uniformly flowing out lubricating oil from small gap extending to horizontal direction between outer circumferential face at front side part of the orifice plate and inner circumferential face of a mold onto the whole circumferential face of the ingot. CONSTITUTION:Annular lubricating oil passage 5 is arranged at the part of the mold 3 in contact with the orifice plate 2. The lubricating oil flowing through radial grooves 6 from the above passage 5 arrives to the outer circumferential face at the front side part of the orifice plate 2 facing to the mold and the course is converted to advancing direction of the casting ingot 9. After spreading the lubricating oil in the gap 7 between the inner circumferential face of the mold 3 and the outer surface of the orifice plate 2 almost uniformly, this is allowed to flow out on the outer surface of the casting ingot 9. As the outer surface of the ingot 9 is lubricated almost uniformly, the casting ingot without any roughening and burning on the casting surface can be produced.

    • PURPOSE:To stably enable a high speed casting and to improve the productivity by ejecting primary cooling water to a molten steel cooled with a cooling mold, applying the primary cooling and further, applying a secondary cooling with the secondary cooling water. CONSTITUTION:The primary cooling water ejecting hole 23 having 15-40mm the distance from a meniscus and the secondary cooling water ejecting hole 24 having 20-45mm the interval between the contact position of the primary cooling water and the contact position of the secondary cooling water on the ingot (cast billet) are provided. The ejecting angle for the primary cooling water is set to 15-30 deg. and the ejecting angle for the secondary cooling water is set to 30-60 deg.. Solidification is progressed with the primary cooling water from the primary ejecting hole 23 in the cooling mold 2 and successively, the secondary cooling water is ejected toward the steam film in transition boiling zone and film boiling zone generated on the surface of the ingot 4 from the secondary ejecting hole 24. By this method, the nucleus boiling is generated by breaking through the transition boiling zone and the film boiling zone, and the ingot surface is directly secondary-cooled to form the solidified shell having further strength.

    • PURPOSE:To precisely and quickly detect the breakout with a simple device by connecting each one end of plural ropes under stretching condition to a tension detecting instrument and detecting the breakout from the change in the tension in the rope caused by the falling molten metal. CONSTITUTION:When the molten metal 1 projecting from a mold 4 drops due to occurrence of the breakout, the molten metal is stuck to at least one piece of the rope in plural ropes 12, 12... set at the lower part, and this rope 12 is melted and cut. By this cutting, the detecting end part in the tension detecting instrument 13 connected to the one end of the cut rope 12 is displaced, and this displacing signal is transmitted to a control device 8. At the time of receiving this signal in the control device 8, comparison-operation is executed between the detected value and the set value, and after confirmation of the breakout, a control signal is transmitted to a molten metal shut-off device 7, and by working a cylinder, a tip shut-off part in the molten metal shut-off device 7 is dipped into a trough 2 to stop the flow of the molten metal 1.

    • PURPOSE:To continuously form the high quality ingot product by interposing an annular flow straightening means at the connecting part of an annular cooling water chamber in a mold and a cooling water injecting part opened to an inner peripheral face in the mold. CONSTITUTION:The mold 3 is fitted at the front face side of a tundish 1 through an orifice plate 2 to form this horizontal continuous casting device. The annular cooling water chamber 3-3 connected with a cooling water pouring hole 3-6, is provided on the inside of the mold 3. The cooling water injecting part 3-4 communicated with the cooling water chamber 3-3 and having tip opening part 3-5 opened as annular on the inner peripheral face in the mold 3 is provided. The annular flow straightening means 5 for feeding to the cooling water injecting part 3-4 by straightening the flow of cooling water in the cooling water chamber 3-3, is interposed at the connecting part of the cooling water chamber 3-3 and the cooling water injecting part 3-4. By this method, the whole peripheral surface of cast ingot can be uniformly cooled.
