    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize REaD electrophotographic printing using additive color process toner by restraining image-on-image development. SOLUTION: An image area passes through an electrification station constituted of a DC scorotron 22 electrifying the image area. After the image area passes through a black developing station 32, a DC scorotron 42 electrifies the image area and a black toner layer again. In a blue exposure station 44, the image area is exposed to obtain the electrostatic latent image of a blue image. The image area passes through a blue developing station 46, and blue toner 48 is stuck to the image. A DC scorotron 52 electrifies the image area again. Next, the image area is exposed by a green exposure station 54, and green toner 58 is adhered to the image area. Then, the image area is electrified by a DC scorotron 62 again. The image area exposed again after passing through a red exposure station 66 passes through a red developing station 66, and red toner 68 is adhered to the image area.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arrange all of respective devices and respective stations proximately to a photoreceptor and to realize a small-sized desk top color printer by arranging an erasing lamp on the opposide side or on this side of a final physical developer housing but behind from a first physical developer housing. SOLUTION: A pretransfer erasing lamp 39 is arranged on the upstream side of a magenta developing station 32 and on the downstream side of a cyan developing station 34. Furthermore, the lamp 39 is arranged proximately to the inside surface of a photoreceptor belt 10. By arranging the lamp 39 at this position, compact design is realized especially. In the case of requiring to maintain the stability and the consistency of the charge of the photoreceptor, the delay of time between the discharge of the lamp 39 and an electrifier 40 should be made to a minimum. Therefore, it is still beneficial to put the lamp 39 on this side of a final developer housing even when there exists an appropriate space where the lamp 39 can be arranged behind the final developer housing.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a total charge imparted to a toner layer and to reduce a mutual pollorion by making a lamp irradiate a photoreceptor and removing the charge of the photoreceptor before the next AC re-electrification of the photoreceptor, which is performed to expose a next color image, after developing the 1st toner layer. SOLUTION: Re-electrification is performed well when a photoreceptor is exposed first so that the charge of an image area is made to lower before the re-electrification. Then, a pre-electrification erasing lamp 18 is used to expose the image area. When the image area advances passing through the lamp 18, the lamp 18 irradiates the image area. The developed image area is discharged by the lamp 18 and the potential of the photoreceiving body is lowered to the potential obtained by adding all voltages to a residual voltage being about -25 V by a charge on a developed toner. After passing through the lamp 18, an AC scorotron 22 re-electrifies the image area to a charge level which is desirable to expose and develop a yellow image.
