    • NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (A is lower alkylene) and its salt acceptable with respect topolymerization chemistry.
      EXAMPLE: 2,2-Azobis{2-methyl-N
      1 -(2-hydroxyethyl)progpaneamidine}.
      USE: A polymerization initiator. Having high polymerization activity, fuctonal properties, having properties of dissolving in water and lower alcohols, and useful. A polymer obtained by using a compound shown by the formula I is expected to be useful as a reactive high polymer, and to improve hydrophilic nature, adhesiveness, printability, antistatic properties, etc. of polymer.
      PREPARATION: 2,2'-Azobisisobutyronitrile shown by the formula II which is called AIBN for short and easily obtainable is subjected to iminoetherification by a conventional procedure according to the equation, and the reaction product is reacted with 2-aminoethanol or 3-aminopropaol, etc., to give a compound shwon by the formula I.
