    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition excellent in flowability and crystallinity during molding and capable of giving a plastic magnet improved in magnetic characteristics and mechanical strengths by incorporating a polyamide resin having a specified terminal carboxyl concentration, a specified or lower relative viscosity with a layered silicate and a magnetic powder. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. polyamide resin (e.g. nylon 6) having a terminal carboxyl concentration adjusted to 40-150 meq/kg by the addition of e.g. benzoic acid and a relative viscosity of 2.3 or below (in 96% sulfuric acid in a concentration of 1 g/dl at 25 deg.C); 0.2-15 pts.wt. layered silicate; and 60-95 wt.%, based on the entire composition, magnetic powder (e.g. barium ferrite) having a particle diameter of 0.5-10 μm. If necessary, this composition may further be formulated with another thermoplastic resin, a plasticizer, a lubricant, etc. The layered silicate is exemplified by montmorillonite or swellable fluoromica. It is desirable that the layered silicate is used after it has been subjected to a swelling treatment for widening its interlayer distances with a swelling agent such as 12-aminododecane in order to improve the dispersibility of the layered silicate in the polyamide resin.

    • PURPOSE:To prepare a resin compsn. which is excellent in the mechanical properties, heat resistance, and chemical resistance and shows a reduced change by water absorption in dimension and physical properties by compounding nylon 46, a specific aliph. polyamide, and a specific amorphous polyamide in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:Nylon 46 (A), an aliph. polyamide (B) having a ratio of methylene group to amide group (CH2/NHCO) in the polymer main chain of 6-11 (e.g. nylon 12, or nylon 612), and an amorphous polyamide having a glass transition point of 100 deg.C or higher (C) (e.g. 2,2,4-/2,4,4-trimethylhexamethylenediamine/ terephthalic acid polycondensate) are compounded in such a ratio that formulas I and II [wherein W(A), W(B), and W(C) are the wts. of components A, B, and C compounded, respectively] are satisfied. The resulting compsn. is excellent in the mechanical properties, resistance to heat and chemicals, and gloss of a molded article, and shows a remarkably reduced change by water absorption in dimension and physical properties while retaining properties characteristic of nylon 46.
