摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a composition having excellent thermal respondence of recording and excellent color intensity and free of color disappearance even under high-temperature and high-moist conditions and also in the presence of plasticizer from a low-melting mixture composed of a leuco dye and a mixture selected from specific benzyl paraoxybenzoates as developers. CONSTITUTION:A composition for a heat-sensitive recording sheet is composed of a colorless or light-color leuco dye and a substance having a developing function. As for the substances constituting the developer, a mixture having a low melting point (80-120 deg.C), selected from benzyl esters of paraoxy benzoic acid, e.g., benzyl esters (A) (nucleus halogen or lower alkylsubstituted benzyl ester, etc.), aryl esters (B) (phenyl ester, etc.), or lower alkyl esters (C) (propyl ester, etc.) is used. The preferred amount of the developer used is 3-10pts.wt. on the basis of 1pt.wt. leuco dye.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a color developer in heat- sensitive recording material easily in high yield and purity, by reacting a lower alkyl aromatic hydroxycarboxylate with a benzyl alcohol in the presence of an alkyltin compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A lower alkyl aromatic hydroxycarboxylate, e.g. methyl p- hydroxybenzoate, is subjected to the ester interchange reaction with a benzyl alcohol in the presence of an alkyltin compound in an atmosphere of N2 under ordinary pressure or reduced pressure at 180-250 deg.C. After completing the ester interchange reaction, the benzyl alcohol is distilled away to give crude benzyl aromatic hydroxycarboxylate, e.g. benzyl p-hydroxybenzoate, in high purity. Dibutyltin oxide, diethyltin oxide or dibutyltin diacetate, etc. may be used as the alkyltin compound.

CONSTITUTION:90-99.9wt% 2-hydroxy naphthalene-3-carboxylic acid (salt) (A), 9.9-0.1wt% beta-naphthol (salt) (B), and 9.9-0.1wt% phenolic by-product (C) contg. one equivalent of phenolic hydroxyl group and having an MW of 3,000, obtd. when an alkali salt of beta-naphthol is reacted with carbon dioxide, are mixed together. The mixture is reacted with an arom. diazonium compd. If desired, the product is chelated to obtain the desired toned azo pigment. When the amount of component B to be mixed with component A is increased, the bathochromic degree of the resulting azo pigment is increased, and color tone is stabilized by component C.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound, easily, in high purity and yield, economically in an industrial scale, with simple procedure, by reacting hydroxybenzoic acid or its salt with a lower aralkyl halide in a polar aprotic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The titled compound is perpared by reacting hydroxybenzoic acid which may have substituent group in the ring or its salt with a lower aralkyl halide, perferably benzyl halide in a polar aprotic solvent, preferably in the presence of an estirification catalyst such as tetraalkylammonium halide at room temperature -250 deg.C, preferably about 40-200 deg.C. The polar aprotic solvent is e.g. di (lower alkyl) formamide, tetra (lower alkyl) urea, etc., and its amount is preferably 0.5-10 times that of the raw materal mixture. The above esterification reaction is preferably carried out by using the hydroxybenzoic acid or its salt and the lower alkyl halide at equimoplar ratio, or using either component in excess.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound in high yield and purity, with simple operation, by reacting hydroxybenzoic acid with a lower aralkyl halide in a solvent using a quaternary ammonium salt as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is prepared by reacting (A) a hydroxybenzoic acid which may have substituent group in the ring or its salt with (B) a lower aralkyl halide which may have substituent group in the ring, in (C) a solvent which does not essentially participate in the reaction, e.g. water, alcohol, etc., in the presence of (D) a catalyst comprising a quaternary ammonium salt e.g. tetraethyl ammonium chloride, a polystyrene resin having quaternary ammonium group, etc., at about 40-250 deg.C, preferably about 50-200 deg.C. The amount of the quaternary ammonium salt is 1-50mol%, preferably 3-30mol% based on the starting raw material.
