    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid (1) and an ester and an amide thereof. SOLUTION: A method for producing tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid (1) by hydrolyzing a 4-cyanotetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid compound represented by formula (2) (wherein R represents H or a hydrocarbon group) in the presence of an acid is provided. A method for producing a tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid ester by reacting tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid (1) with an alcohol in the presence of an acid is also provided. A method for producing tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid amide by producing a tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic halide by reacting tetrahydropyran-4-carboxylic acid (1) with a halogenating agent, subsequently reacting with an amine compound is also provided.
