    • PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition resistant to the dissipation of the agent even in the use at a high temperature or in the presence of an organic solvent, and capable of keeping the heat-resistance, etc. of rubber, etc. for a long period, by adding N,N'-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine as an antioxidant to a clay mineral.
      CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be prepared by crushing a clay mineral such as montmorillonite with e.g. a ball mill preferably to an average particle diameter of ≤50μ, immersing the powder in a solution of an antioxidant comprising N,N'-diphenyl-p-phenylene-diamine to apply the agent to the surface of the clay mineral or to impregnate the agent between the lamellae of the mineral, and drying the product. The amount of the agent is preferably 0.01W 10wt%, based on the clay mineral. The composition is added to a rubber component in an amount of usually 0.1W3wt%.
      EFFECT: The composition improves the ozone crack resistance and flex cracking resistance of an organic polymer materials such as rubber materials, etc.

    • PURPOSE: To prepare a sealing material having high strength, flexibility, compressibility, etc. and excellent heat resistance, easily, at a low cost, by laminating and bonding flakes obtained by crushing vermiculite as a main component, to form a sheet product.
      CONSTITUTION: Vermiculite (a lamellar mineral composed of aluminum silicate as a substrate) is calcined pref. at 300W500°C, and the expanded vermiculite thus obtained is crushed with a wet mixer to obtain flakes [pref. having a thickness of ≤100μ, and an aspect ratio (the ratio of the square root of the area of the surface perpendicular to the thickness, to the thickness) of ≥5], which are laminated (e.g. dispersed in water and spontaneously precipitated or forcibly filtered) and bonded together with a press, etc., to obtain the objective sheetlike material.
      USE: An engine gasket, etc.

As hydrated magnesium silicate clay mineral, there is sepiolite or white tile and, as the org. binder, there is acrylonitrile butadiene latex.

As the hydrated magnesium silicate clay mineral, there are sepiolite, white tile and palygorskite and said mineral is pref. a crystal with a length of about 10mum or less and an aspect ratio of about 100 or less.
