    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cleaning apparatus in which a gas to be cleaned is cleaned by efficiently removing a harmful material from the gas-to-be-cleaned containing the harmful material such as particulate matter at a low temperature without heating and a discharge reaction body used for the gas cleaning apparatus. SOLUTION: The gas cleaning apparatus 1 has a discharge reaction part 2 and a power source 4 for generating discharge which is connected to the discharge reaction part 2. The discharge reaction part 2 is formed with a gas flow passage 5 through which the gas X to be cleaned flows and is provided with a discharge electrode 5 along the gas flow passage 9, a metallic counter electrode 7 opposed to the discharge electrode 5 and a dielectric 6 covering a required part of the discharge electrode 5 and metallic counter electrode 7. The power source 4 for generating discharge forms an electric field in the gas flow passage 9 by applying voltage between the discharge electrode 5 and the metallic counter electrode 7 to produce discharge plasma and simultaneously to collect the particulate matter contained in the gas X by electric collection function produced by the formation of electric field.
