    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact rotary electric machine without lowering an operation voltage. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine includes an iron core 2, a coil 1 extending from the iron core 2, and an electromagnetic shield plate 3 which is provided outside the iron core 2 and has a plurality of shoulders projecting toward the coil 1. The coil 1 includes an insulator electrically insulatingly covering the outside of a conductor, a low-resistance layer 4 formed on a surface of the insulator and contacting the iron core 2, and an electric field alleviating layer 5 formed on a surface of the insulator to be adjacent to the low-resistance layer 4. A boundary between the low-resistance layer 4 and the electric field alleviating layer 5 is provided at a position farther from the iron core 2 than a position of a point (a point A) on a surface of the coil 1 (the position closer to a leading out portion 6), where a distance between the coil 1 and a shoulder of the electromagnetic shield plate 3 closest to the iron core 2 is the shortest.     • PURPOSE: To prevent brazing material from flowing into a hollow conductor by inserting into the opening in a head a retaining metal piece which has been chamfered for the prevention of the direct contact between its face adjoining the end of the conductor and the end of the conductor, and brazing the metal piece to seal the inside of the head. CONSTITUTION: A retaining metal piece 11, whose face adjoining the end of a conductor 5 will not be brought into direct contact with the end of the conductor 5, is inserted into the opening in a head 2, and is brazed using brazing material 6 to seal the space 9 inside the head. The end of the retaining metal piece 11 matches the position of the end of the conductor 5. Further, one corner of the retaining metal piece 11 is chamfered (13a) so that its bottom will be in contact with the conductor 5 at a point away approx. 1/5 of the length of the retaining metal piece 11 from the end of the conductor. This makes molten brazing material 6 run along the bottom of the retaining metal piece 11, and lengthens the creepage distance to the end of the hollow conductor 5. Therefore, brazing material 6 does not flow on the end of the conductor 5, which prevents brazing material 6 from flowing into the hole in the hollow conductor 5.
