      SOLUTION: An HDD has a carriage for moving a head with respect to a medium, and a voice coil motor (VCM) for driving the carriage. The VCM has a magnet 81 constituting a magnetic circuit with a first shell 10a made of a magnetic material, and a voice coil 64 arranged in a magnetic gap fixed to the carriage. By forming a recess 83 for passing a projected part 82 covering the lead of the voice coil 64 in the first shell 10a, a projected part finally projected toward the coil 64 is formed, and the magnetic gap is partially narrowed to secure sufficiently strong generated torque.
