    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase emission luminance and to shorten afterglow time in a green light-emitting phosphor used for a display device such as an FED (field emission display).
      SOLUTION: The green light-emitting phosphor for the display device comprises a manganese-activated zinc silicate phosphor and emits a green light through excitation by an electronic beam with an acceleration voltage of ≤15 kV. The manganese-activated zinc silicate phosphor consists of particles having an average particle size of 1.0-2.0 μm. A field-emission display device is equipped with a fluorescent film containing a blue light-emitting phosphor layer, a green light-emitting phosphor layer and a red light-emitting phosphor layer, an electron source for applying the electronic beam with an acceleration voltage of ≤15 kV to the fluorescent film to induce the emission of light, and a package which seals the electron source and the fluorescent film in vacuum. The green light-emitting phosphor layer contains the green light-emitting phosphor for the display device.

      SOLUTION: The fluorescent substance comprises a manganese-activated zinc silicate phosphor and is constituted of particles having 1.0-1.4 ratio of the major axis to the minor axis. The method for producing the phosphor involves a step for obtaining the particles of the manganese-activated zinc silicate phosphor having 1.0-1.4 ratio of the major axis axis to the minor axis by heating raw materials for the phosphor comprising the mother body of the phosphor, and an element constituting the activating agent, or a compound containing the element while fluidizing or rolling the raw materials.
