    • PURPOSE:To form a demodulation circuit for easily improving reception limit performance at the time of low C/N reception at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:First IF signals frequency-converted in a down converter are supplied to an amplifier circuit 3 provided with a control terminal C1. The IF signals are supplied to the separation means 10 of a next stage, second IF signals are obtained from the first IF signals and simultaneously, I signals and Q signals are separated. The I signals and the Q signals are respectively supplied through amplitude limiting circuits 40a and 40b to A/D conversion circuits 20a and 20b. By the diodes 41a, 42a, 41b and 42b of the amplitude limiting circuits 40a and 40b, the amplitude of the signals is limited by the forward voltage of the diode. The limit value of the amplitude is set larger than the input voltage range of the A/D conversion circuits 20a and 20b so as not to influence a normal operation, the input voltage of instantaneous fluctuation is limited and an average control voltage is supplied from the signal processing circuit 30 of the next stage to the control terminal C1 of the amplifier circuit 3.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a phase noise at a low frequency offset, an LO(Local Oscillator) leakage and a return loss or the like so as to attain high performance at a low cost. SOLUTION: The basic configuration of a CATV tuner 101 adopts a single conversion system including one local oscillator and one mixer or the like to reduce the phase noise. In this case, an attached circuit consisting of an AGC circuit 70, an amplifier 80 and an LPF 90 to control the gain of an input signal frequency is inserted between an HPF/LPF 41 and a switch 42 at pre- stages of variable tracking filters (43, 49, 55). Since the isolation of the input of each mixer can be enhanced, the production of LO leakage and the return loss or the like can be suppressed to attain high performance at a low cost. Furthermore, a variable frequency divider 67 conducts frequency division without using a fixed frequency divider prescaler of a PLL circuit so as to reduce the phase noise at a low frequency offset of a local oscillating frequency.

SOLUTION: A 1st frequency converter 26 calculates a TV signal S22 and a local oscillation signal S23, and an outputted 1st intermediate frequency S24 undergoes the selection of its frequency via a BPF 29 which has a frequency band equivalent to 1 to 2 channels of the signal S22 and is supplied to a phaser 31 as a 1st intermediate frequency signal S25. The local oscillation signal S30 outputted from a local oscillator 35 is supplied to a phaser 34. The phasers 31 and 34 divide the signals S25 and S30 into two pieces respectively, and the phase of one of both divided signals is shifted by π/2 and undergoes the arithmetic processing. The output S31 and S32 of mixers 32 and 33 are synthesized by a synthesizer 37, and the image frequency component is eliminated.

Thus, it is possible to suppress the change in the natural frequency of a PLL control loop in a small way.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve phase noise over the entire band and to reduce fixed deterioration of a system, especially when receiving a digital broadcasting signal. SOLUTION: This tuner divides an inputted high frequency signal into plural (three) passbands at a band changeover switch 113 to enable output, provides each passband with a variable filtering means and a frequency converting means, and outputs an IF signal that undergoes frequency conversion, into a prescribed intermediate frequency(IF). The respective circuit form of three local oscillators 118, 123 and 128 which constitute plural frequency converting means (117 and 118), (122 and 123) and (127 and 128) provided in each passband are an unbalanced oscillator circuit in a UHF band, an unbalanced or balanced oscillator circuit in a VHF high band, and a balanced oscillator circuit in a VHF low band. As result, it is possible to secure an oscillation range in the VHF band and to improve phase noise in the UHF band.
