In the emphasizing portion, the ration between the area of the cells of diffraction grating constituted of arc-shaped concave portion or convex portion and the area of the cells of diffraction grating constituted of parallel and linear concave portion or convex portion is within a range of 7:3 to 3:7.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium which can display a multi-color image giving a natural impression, while maintaining anti-copying function, by taking the advantages of a diffraction grating which gives rise to a color change in compliance with a viewing angle. SOLUTION: This image display medium reveals a multi-color image by dividing a transparent sheet into a plurality of areas, then arranging a monochromatic image or an image of a plurality of colors obtained by superposing monochromatic images in each of the areas, and laminating a plurality of the monochromatic images over each other. In this case, some of the monochromatic images selected from among the monochromatic images or the monochromatic images making up the images in a plurality of colors, are constituted using the diffraction grating. On the other hand, the other images are colored in a coloring agent. Color change occurrs only in the monochromatic image constituted using the diffraction grating, even if the viewing angle is changed, and no color change takes place in the other monochromatic image. Thus it is possible to display a multi-color image giving a natural impression, even if the viewing angle is not strictly specified. Since the duplicated image of this multi-color image reveals no color change, even if the viewing angle is changed significantly, it is possible to easily distinguish between the genuine image and the duplicated image. Light-scattering elements which are equivalent in scattering-light intensity are formed in the third region, as viewed from the directions in which the intensity distributions of scattered light by the light-scattering elements formed in the first and second regions are high. Light-scattering elements which are equivalent in the scattering-light intensity are formed in the fourth region, as viewed from the directions in which the intensity distributions of scattered light by the light-scattering elements formed in the first and second regions are low.
