    • PURPOSE:To obtain smooth prints having sufficient density by using a screen, where the number of white lines in one direction is larger than that in the other direction and the area rate of a blackened part is >=56% and the width of white lines is uniform, as a screen for gravure. CONSTITUTION:The width of lateral white lines 8 is 15mu, and the width of longitudinal white lines 17 is 15mu also. A line ratio (a:b) of white to black with respect to longitudinal white lines 7 is (1:1.5), and a line ratio c:d of that with respect to lateral white lines is (1:1.5). With respect to the number of lines, 677 longitudinal white lines are provided per inch, and 106 lateral white lines are provided per inch, and the area rate of the blackened part is about 56%. On the surface of the plate for gravure printing produced in this manner, the pitch of longitudinal banks due to screen printing for gravure is reduced very much and the moire pattern generated between these banks and a halftone positive is inconspicuous, and the pitch of lateral banks is increased very much and the moire pattern between them and the halftone positive is difficult to generate.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce rough feel and to make a moire pattern inconspicuous, by dividing the opaque parts of parallel square lines by parallel transparent lines perpendicular or diagonal to the parallel square lines. CONSTITUTION:Transparent parts 11, 21, 31, 41 and opaque parts 12, 22, 32, 42 form parallel square lines which are disposed alternately. Patterns 10, 20, 30, 40 of respective parallel lines are formed with the parts 11 and 12, 21 and 22, 31 and 32, 41 and 42, and the respective ratios are constant. The parts 11, 21, 31, 41 differ in line width, and the difference corresponds to the state that plural kinds of parallel line patterns having a specified line ratio and different line widths are selected irregularly and are arranged in parallel. The part 12 is divided by parallel transparent lines 11a and forms a cell 12a. Similarly, the parts 22, 32, 42 form the cells 22a, 32a, 42a divided by the respective parallel transparent lines 21a, 31a, 41a.     • PURPOSE:To obtain a printing plate having excellent print resisting power, etc. by forming a resist layer on the surface of a gravure printing plate material made of a metal then scanning and exposing laser light so as to change the size of dots according to the density of an original image, removing the resist in the dot parts and etching the metallic material. CONSTITUTION:A resist layer 2 is formed on the surface of a gravure printing plate material 1 made of a metal such as copper. The layer 2 is then exposed by laser light while said layer is scanned by the laser light to change the size of dot parts 3 according to the density of the original image by which the layer 2 is evaporated away. The photosensitive resist layer 2 may be otherwise used so that the resin of the dot parts 3 is removed by a developing process. The material 1 is thereafter etched by an etching liquid such as an aq. FeCl3 soln. or the like and the residual resist 2 is removed. The original plate formed with gravure cells 4 is thus obtd. Since inspection and correction are possible in the stage of forming the parts 3 to the layer 2, the printing plate which permits a decrease in remaking of the original plate and has excellent printing resistance is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease generation of moire and to enable regeneration of a sharp image without affecting the angle of a halftone original and without deviating focus by forming an aperture of a scanning input device into a circular shape having a prescribed size. CONSTITUTION:An aperture 5 of an optical system which scans a halftone original 3 has a circular shape of such a size at which the circular picture element having the same area as the area of a square having the side corresponding to a screen pitch A can be inputted to a photoelectric tube 7. The difference in the rates at which picture elements 40, 41 having the centers of picture elements coinciding respectively with the centers of a black part 10 and a white part 11 occupy the respective black parts is small and the generation of moire is decreased without affecting the screen angle of the original. The reproduction of a sharp image is thus made possible without affecting the angle of the halftone original and without deviating the focus.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the area rate of blackened parts and to reproduce boundary parts between picture parts and nonpicture parts smoothly by making white lines in one direction different in width from white lines in the other direction on a screen for photogravure. CONSTITUTION:The width of segments 8 of a segment pattern in one direction is made narrower than that of segments 7 in the other direction on the screen for photogravure. When a photogravure printing plate is made by using the screen, parts corresponding to thick white lines 7 of the screen for photogravure are banks 9 and parts corresponding to thin white lines 8 are left as projecting parts 10 only at intersection parts of the banks 9 while the other parts are eliminated by side etching. Therefore, when screen lines nearly as many as usual are secured, the area rate of blackened parts is increased and when the area rate of blackened parts nearly as great as usual is secured, the number of screen lines is increased. Further, boundary parts between picture parts and nonpicture parts are reproduced smoothly.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a gravure print of high quality, by using a gravure screen larger in number of lines and black area rate as compared with conventional ones. CONSTITUTION:A gravure screen has white lines 8 in one direction smaller in width than the other white lines 7 having 9-20mum width and >=350 lines/inch, and the lines 8 having 0.1-0.5 times the width of the thicker lines 7, and the screen has >=56% black area rate. An image of this screen and that of lithographic or letterpress halftone positive are printed on a photoresist, such as carbon tissue, and an inverted halftone gravure printing plate is made by using this photoresist. As a result, a halftone positive having 150 lines/inch, 175 lines/inch, 200 lines/inch, 300 lines/inch, or more can be used and a print reproduced in fine gradation can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a printing plate free from occurrence of moire by using a halftone photoengraving screen obtained by printing a halftone positive or a continuous tone positive for lithography or letterpress on a photosensitive film and printing a black line screen on the film and the above-mentioned halftone positive. CONSTITUTION:Base layer 17 of halftone positive 13 is closely contacted to photosensitive layer 12 of photosensitive film 11 with matted sheet 15 in-between and exposed like the arrows to expose layer 12 shown by oblique line portion 14. Sheet 15 is removed, and emulsion layer 24 of black line screen 19 is closely contacted to layer 12 and exposed like the arrows to form exposed portions 20, 23 corresponding to transparent and opaque portions 21, 22 of screen 19. Film 11 is then developed to manufacture a halftone photoengraving screen having transparent line portion 25 and opaque portion 26. After printing this screen and the above-mentioned halftone positive or the like on a resist type photosensitive material the printed material is transferred onto a copper cylinder, developed to form a resist image, and etched to obtain a halftone gravure printing plate.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the gradation reproducibility of a light portion without occurrence of moire by carrying out a process of printing a halftone positive or a continuous tone positive for lithography or letterpres on a photosensitive film and a process of printing a black line screen for photogravure on the film in an arbitrary order. CONSTITUTION:Halftone positive 16 with base layer 17 downward is closely contacted to photosensitive layer 12 of photosensitive film 11 with diffusion sheet 15 in-between and exposed like the arrows to expose layer 12 with such quantity of light as shown by oblique line portion 14. After finishing the printing, film 11 is developed to manufacture the photoengraving screen having portion 25 with transparent lines and portion 26 with no transparent line corresponding to shadow portion a, middle tone portion b and light portion c of positive 16.
