    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching type chemical loop combustor A of a new configuration in which only one reaction tower 1 is used, the reaction tower is allowed to have both of a function as an oxidation tower and a function as a reduction tower, and thus the entire configuration is simplified and durability is also improved.SOLUTION: The switching chemical loop combustor A includes one reaction tower 1, gas supply means (air supply system 50, a fuel supply system 60) for supplying an oxidant or a reductant into the reaction tower 1 by alternately switching them, a purge gas supply system 70, and exhaust gas exhausting means (Nexhaust system 80, a COexhaust system 90) for exhausting exhaust gas in the reaction tower 1. The Nexhaust system 80 and the COexhaust system 90 are each provided with a purge gas exhaust pipe 100. The reaction tower 1 has an inner tube 5. A control means switches a shut-off valve provided respectively, so that air and fuel gas are alternately supplied to the inner tube 5 and the purge gas is supplied into the reaction tower 1. According to this, a shut-off valve 101 is also switched which is included in the purge gas exhaust pipe 100.
