Besides, in the polyester fiber, it is preferable that the peak value of the heat shrinkage force be less than 0.15 cN/dtex at 200-230°C, the single filament fineness be 4.5-6.0 dtex and the single filament count be 190-250 fil.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon fiber strand for reinforcing a thermoplastic resin, which is provided with a sizing agent having excellent affinity for and adhesiveness to a thermoplastic resin matrix and controls fiber breakage in kneading.
      SOLUTION: The carbon fiber strand for reinforcing a thermoplastic resin is a carbon fiber strand which is adhered with a modified polyolefin copolymer that comprises at least one selected from an ethylene-propylene copolymer, a propylene-butene copolymer and an ethylene-propylene-butene copolymer as a main chain, is graft modified with 0.1-20% by mass of an unsaturated carboxylic acid and has 30-40% degree of crystallization measured by an FT-IR method. The coating weight of the modified copolymer is 0.5-10.0% by mass based on the carbon fiber. Since a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin mixed with the carbon fiber strand has slight breakage of carbon fiber filament and the resin having high affinity for carbon fiber and a matrix resin is bonded to the filament, the carbon fiber strand has high mechanical strength such as flexural strength, etc.
