    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure allowing an inside edge member of a duct tip member and an end component to be cooled well and having improved structural strength. SOLUTION: This apparatus for injecting gas into a vessel includes a gas flow duct 31 which receives hot gas passing through a gas inlet structure 32 at a rear end of the duct. An elongate central structure 33 extends throughout the length of duct 31 and carries a series of vanes 34 for imparting swirl to the gas flow exiting at the forward end of the duct. The forward end of duct 31 has an annular tip member 36 mounted thereat and cooling water flows into the tip member 36 through passages 43 and 44 in the wall of duct 31. The tip member 36 comprise a hollow shell internally divided by a partitioning structure to form a series of water flow galleries. The respective galleries extend circumferentially around the tip member 36 and are interconnected for flow of cooling water sequentially through the galleries from the water supply passage 43 to the water return passage 44.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for injecting a solid particle-shaped material into a vessel. SOLUTION: A refining device includes the vessel, and a solid injection lance 27a extending into the vessel via an opening on a vessel shell wall. The lance includes a center core pipe 31 for passing the solid particle-shaped material, and a ring cooling jacket 32 enclosing the center core pipe over a substantial part of the length. The lance has a fitting structure 61 including a tubular part extending to the periphery of the cooling jacket and having an approximately double diameter of the cooling jacket. The tubular part is interfitted into a tubular lance fitting bracket 62 welded on the outer plate of the vessel shell, and extending to the outside from the vessel. The lance is held on the fitting bracket by a clamping bolt 66 between the tubular part and a flange of the tubular bracket.
