    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric porcelain composition which has an improved high temperature load life under a high voltage and also has an improved relative dielectric constant when a DC voltage is applied on the dielectric porcelain composition at high temperature and to provide an electronic component having the dielectric porcelain composition as a dielectric layer. SOLUTION: The dielectric porcelain composition contains a specified principal component and an assistant component in specified composition ranges. When the value at 50% of a cumulative distribution of the particle size of a raw material of the principal component is defined as D50m and that at 90% of the cumulative distribution is defined as D90m, D50m/D90m≥0.6. The number ratio of surface diffusion particles each having a surface diffusion structure composed of a central layer and an assistant component-diffused layer to all of dielectric particles is ≥60%. When a diameter of the surface diffusion particle is defined as Dg and the diameter of the central layer is defined as Dc, the relationship: (Dg-Dc)/Dg≥0.1 is satisfied and the value at 90% of the cumulative distribution of Dc is defined as D90c, the relationship: 0.25≤D90c≤0.50 is satisfied. An area of the intermediate electrode 15 is larger than that of a region 17, in which the first internal electrode 11 and the second internal electrode 13 are overlaid on each other in the lamination direction. An outer edge of the intermediate electrode 15 is positioned on an outer side than the outer edge of the region 17 when seen in the lamination direction.

      SOLUTION: The electronic component has the dielectric layer and an inner-electrode layer. The dielectric layer is composed of a dielectric porcelain composition including a specific main component and specific accessory components in a specific composition range. A surface diffusion particle has a surface diffusion structure composed of a center layer and a diffusion layer in which accessory components are diffused. A ratio of the number of the surface diffusion particles is ≥60%. When a particle size of the surface diffusion particle is set as Dg and a diameter of the center layer as Dc, it is set to Dc/Dg≥0.4. If a difference (Dg-Dc) is set as a diffusion-layer thickness of the surface diffusion particle and when a diffusion-layer thickness of the surface diffusion particle 21 in contact with the inner-electrode layer is set as Ta and a diffusion-layer thickness of the surface diffusion particle 22 in contact with the center line passing the center in the lamination direction of the dielectric layer and almost in parallel with the inner-electrode layer as Tb, it is set to 0.38≤Ta/Tb≤0.7.
