    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element, in which a counter electrode with sufficient conductivity and high peeling resistance can be realized using an inexpensive carbon electrode.SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element comprises a translucent plate 1, a translucent conductive film 2 fixed to an inner face of the translucent plate 1, a translucent electrode 3 fixed to an inner face of the translucent conductive film 2, an opposed plate 4, a counter electrode 5 fixed to an inner face of the opposed plate 4 and opposed at a constant interval from the translucent electrode 3, and an electrolyte 6 filled between the translucent electrode 3 and the opposed electrode 5. The counter electrode 5 is made of a carbon layer containing carbon with a specific surface area of about 2000 square meter/gram or more in about 70 to about 85 weight%, carboxy methyl cellulose resin with an etherification degree of about 1.5 to about 2.0 in about 2 to about 3 weight%, and a conductive assistant in about 13 to 28 weight%.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact combustion type gas sensor which is comparatively easy to be manufactured and has high reliability, high sensitivity, and a long life, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: In the contact combustion type gas sensor including a detection element 1 and a reference element 2 in a pair thermally isolated from each other, the detection element 1 includes a reaction film 1a obtained by embedding a platinum system electrode wire 4 in thermistor ceramics 3a and mixing a reaction catalyst of detection gas on the surface of the thermistor ceramics 3a; the reference element 2 includes a non-reaction film 2a obtained by embedding the platinum system electrode wire 4 in the thermistor ceramics 3a, which does not contain the reaction catalyst of the detection gas on the surface thereof, and whose calorific capacity is equal to that of the reaction film 1a; and terminals 5 which are connected to the respective pieces of the electrode wire 4 in the detection element 1 and the reference element 2.
