    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alumina ceramics having high processing efficiency, while having high purity, and generating few breaks or chippings during processing, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: The alumina ceramics having alumina purity of ≥99.5 wt.% contain ≥60% anisotropic crystal particles 10 of alumina having a major axis length of ≥10 μm and an aspect ratio of ≥2. Since the larger particle size of alumina particles has lower resistance of a grain boundary, processing efficiency becomes high because the major axis length of the alumina particles is ≥10 μm. Since the aspect ratio of alumina particles is ≥2, when being hit by a grindstone in some fixed direction G, a tendency of being easily broken appears remarkably. Resultantly, the alumina ceramics can be obtained, having high processing efficiency, while having high purity, and generating few breaks or chippings during processing.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum oxide sintered body producible comparatively inexpensively, having a low dielectric loss tangent, and excellent in processability, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: In this aluminum oxide sintered body in which the purity of aluminum oxide is ≥99.0 wt.%, titanium oxide and silicon dioxide are contained in as much as ≥0.2 wt.% to ≤0.8 wt.% in total, and the average particle size in the lengthy direction of aluminum oxide particles is ≥20 μm. Thus, since titanium oxide is contained, aluminum oxide particles are coarsened, and the grain boundary between each aluminum oxide particle is reduced, thus lowering the dielectric loss tangent. On the other hand, since silicon oxide is contained, the dielectric loss tangent can be lowered stably. Further, since the particles are coarsened, processability can be improved. Furthermore, cost can be reduced, because an extremely high purity of aluminum oxide is unnecessary.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method or the like by which deterioration possibility of a ceramic molding caused by moisture absorption can be reduced and improvement in processing accuracy and reduction in a processing cost of a ceramic sintered body can be attained thereby.SOLUTION: In the ceramic molding, strength and hardness can be controlled within a range suitable for high precision processing by controlling binder content and moisture content. Thereby a swept state of powder produced on the molding when processed becomes better and occurrence of a crack or the like can be avoided to achieve good surface properties by processing. Further load applied to a machining tool can be reduced. Thus the sintered body produced by sintering the molding has good surface properties without surface processing. Consequently a finishing cost can be reduced.
