摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a connecting rod of an internal combustion engine which can restrain fretting for the use of a long term by forming synthetic resin layers on both contact faces of a bearing metal mounting face and a contact face of the bearing metal with a connecting rod main body and a cap. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin layer 5 is formed on the bearing metal mounting faces of a connecting rod main body 1 and a cap 2. A synthetic resin layer 6 is formed on the contact faces of the bearing metal 3 with the connecting rod main body 1 and the cap 2. For the synthetic resin of the synthetic resin layers 5, 6, PAI(polyamidimide) is used, wear resistance and load resistance against lubricating oil temperature are excellent, and adhesion to the surface of base material is also excellent. For the synthetic resin layers 5, 6, a resin coating layer is favorably used, in which the hardness is 1H-4H in pencil hardness, and a sort or two sorts or more among MoS2, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), graphite as solid lubricant are contained of 5% or less in the whole weight ratio, favorably 1-3wt%.

CONSTITUTION:The lower portion of a rod guide 5 is expanded so as to form a gap C with the outer periphery of a piston rod 4 over the whole circumference. The flow of oil in a cylinder 1 in the leaking direction between the piston rod 4 and rod guide 5 is suppressed due to this gap C. Accordingly, oil is prevented from flowing into grease filled in an oil seal 8, thus the deterioration and abrasion of the oil seal 8 can be prevented.
