    • PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity to piezoelectricity by a method wherein the title bismuth layered compound is polarized while being impressed with a specific pressure making a right angle with the polarising direction for polarizing the crystalline particles hardly polarized by prior art method. CONSTITUTION:The bismuth layered compound is to be composed of a material having extremely intensitive anisotropy and in specific polarizing direction due to the crystalline structure thereof. Thus, this compound is polarized while being impressed with the pressure exceeding 0.1MPa making a right angle with the polarizing direction. At this time, the grain boundary slip is made in crystalline particles 10 by the pressure in the easily polarizing direction, i.e., the extending direction of a flat surface making a right angle with the pressure impressing direction so that even the crystalline particles 10 hardly polarized by prior art method may be polarized. Accordingly, even if the impressed pressure is relieved to reset to the original state of the crystalline particles 10, the polarized state of respective particles 10 is to be left intact thereby enabling the sensitivity to piezoelectricity to be enhanced compared with the prior art one.
