    • PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength, highly elastic and see-through laminate excellent in light resistance and water resistance by a structure wherein knitted and woven goods, a part of the warps and/or woofs of which consist of ultra high-strength polyethylene long fibers and the remaining part of which mainly consists of polyester fibers, are employed as base fabric, to which a biaxially oriented polyester film is laminated. CONSTITUTION:The warp and woof constituting a base fabric are ultra high- strength polyethylene long fiber thread and/or polyester fiber thread. At least on one side of the base fabric, which is produced by knitting or weaving said warps and woofs, a biaxially oriented film is bonded and laminated. The preferable unit degree of fineness of the thread constituting the warp and/or woof is 0.5-20 denier. Further, preferable warp and/or woof is substantially nontwisted and has the tensile strength of 15g/denier or higher and the total denier of 50-800 denier. The preferable weight per area of the basic fabric is 20-250g/m . The proper thickness of the biaxially oriented film is 12-125mum.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive optical fiber cord having high quality by placing longitudinally PE fibers around an optical fiber core in parallel in the longitudinal direction thereof without twisting and welding and uniting at least the outside peripheral part of the PE fibers with a specific org. high-polymer compd. CONSTITUTION:The PE fibers (A) has the tensile strength of at least 20g/denier, more preferably >=30g/denier and the tensile modulus of at least 500g/denier, more preferably >=800g/denier. The org. high-polymer compd. (C) has =2 kinds of mixed components are preferably for said compd. particularly to weld and unite the same to the outside peripheral part of the PE fibers (A). The better result is obtd. in terms of the reduction in the weight and diameter of the optical fiber cord as the tensile break strength of the wire-shaped composite body constituted by welding and uniting the (A) and (C) to be used is higher. A measure of such strength is at least 40kg/mm , more preferably >=60kg/mm .
