    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable wire breaking related to voltage measurement to be detected, while maintaining voltage measurement precision of each single cell of a battery pack.SOLUTION: A battery pack device is provided with a monitoring circuit for detecting failure of a circuit in the following manner. In a state that an optional short circuit switch is opened among a plurality of short circuit switches, another short circuit switch electrically adjacent as to both ends of the optional short circuit switch is brought into open state and a potential difference appearing on both ends of each short circuit switch is measured by a voltage measurement circuit to obtain a first measurement result. Then, in a state that the optional short circuit switch is closed, another short circuit switch electrically adjacent as to both ends of the optional short circuit switch is brought into open state and a potential difference appearing on both ends of each short circuit switch is measured by the voltage measurement circuit to obtain a second measurement result. The difference between the first and second measurement results is detected for each of the short circuit switches, and failure of the circuit is detected based on the degree of the difference.
