    • PURPOSE:To constitute the steam iron so that water in a water tank can always be allowed to flow out smoothly into a vaporizing chamber of a base, and also, water in the water tank does not leak out to the outside even if the iron main body is displaced to an upside-down or overturned attitude. CONSTITUTION:In the steam iron which is provided with a water tank 7 for containing water for generating steam and can supply water to a vaporizing chamber 32 of a base of an iron main body 1 through an outflow port 34 formed in a bottom part of this water tank 7, a water pouring port 46 is formed in the upper part of the water tank 7, and an opening/closing cover 49 which can open and close this water pouring port 46 and closes up tightly and liquid- tightly the water pouring port 46 at the time when it is closed is provided. Also, in the upper part of the water tank 7, a valve mechanism 52 which has a ventilation path 53 and opens this ventilation path 53 at a usual time and closes liquid-tightly the ventilation path 53 by its operation when the iron main body 1 is displaced to an upside-down or overturned attitude is provided.

    • PURPOSE:To exclude the intermittent jetting of steam or the decrease of jetting quantity by smoothly circulating water inside a discharge pipe by providing a leading part of the discharge pipe with a narrow flow-out part having a cross-sectional area smaller than the cross-sectional area of the discharge pipe and letting water, which is sent from the pour port of a water feeding means into the discharge pipe, flow through a flow-out part to an evaporation chamber. CONSTITUTION:A suction part 31 of an electric pump 30 is connected to a flow-in part 12 of a water relay 9 and communicates with the inside of the flow-in part 12, and a discharge pipe 35 formed by a flexible heat resistant rubber is connected into a discharge port 32. At the intermediate part of the water relay 9, a flow-out part 36 composed of the through holes of a small diameter to be passed through vertically is formed, and the lower edge part of the narrow flow-out part 36 is arranged at an opening part on the upper face of an evaporation chamber 7. In this case, the cross-sectional area of the pour port 32 of the electric pump 30 is made almost the same as the cross-sectional area of the discharge pipe 35, and the cross-sectional area of the narrow flow-out part 36 is made enough smaller than that of the discharge pipe 35. Even when any bubble is interposed inside the discharge pipe 35, the bubble is pushed out of the discharge pipe 35 with the pressure of water to be circulated inside the narroe flow-out part 36.
