    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam iron that atomizes mist from the hanging surface of an iron body while a mist atomization nozzle or the like can be maintained easily. SOLUTION: The steam iron is provided with a base 3 that is heated by a base heater 2, a water tank 8 for storing water, and a boiler 20 with a vaporization chamber 37 for vaporizing water that is supplied from the inside of the water tank 8 through a water passage joint 16 and for generating steam for atomizing mist. The steam iron is also provided with a mist atomization nozzle 58 for sucking water by a water suction pipe 57 for connecting water in the water tank 8 to the water passage joint for atomization due to steam pressure in the boiler 20, and a mist guide 52 for guiding mist that is generated from the mist atomization nozzle 58 to an opening 54 that is the mist delivery port of the base 3 for atomizing from a hanging surface. A base rear lid 5 that becomes a hanging surface where a mist emission port 55 is formed is detachably mounted to the base 3. A steam passage 73 having a steam delivery port 74 is formed on the mating surface with the base of the base rear lid 5.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts and cost without harming the function of a temperature setting display by avoiding to equip an independent display means for a temperature setting OFF condition which is temperature setting for a heating means not to execute heating motion. SOLUTION: The ironing face of this iron is made to be switched to three levels of high, medium, and low temperatures and the temperature setting is switching to OFF condition, low temperature, medium temperature, high temperature, and OFF condition again circulating in that order. The OFF condition is a temperature setting condition (temperature setting OFF condition) in which the heater is not energized not to heat a base 12. Lamps 22a, 22b, 22c are lit ON when the temperature setting is low temperature, medium temperature, and high temperature respectively. On the contrary, no display means id provided for the temperature setting OFF condition. In the temperature setting OFF condition, all lamps 22a, 22b, 22c are lit OFF, i.e., the temperature setting primarily to be dealt with is not displayed, and thereby the temperature setting OFF condition is displayed.
