    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switchgear which, while stably retaining the spring force of a breaking spring, has its contact parting time reduced, and an operating mechanism for the switchgear.SOLUTION: The switchgear includes a main lever 11 which separates a movable contact from a counter contact as it rotates upon receiving the spring force of a breaking spring 12 whose energy is released at transition to breaking, the main lever 11 having connected thereto a sub lever 71 which is fixed to an axially rotatable sub shaft 70. To the sub shaft 70 is fixed a single latch lever 72 which has a roller 72a attached thereto at a tip. The latch lever 72 has its rotation restricted by a single latch part 91 existing on the movement locus of the roller 72a. The latch part 91 has a weight 93 separably pressed against it, and the weight 93 is pushed away by an actuator 21 to let the latch part 91 rotate, whereby it is retracted from the movement locus of the roller 72a.

A jack bolt 10 is screwed into the screw hole, thereby pushing down the spring bearing 5 and the making spring 4 to form a clearance 16 between the spring bearing support medium 3 and the spring bearing 5. A spring force adjusting spacer 7 is inserted into the clearance 16, allowing the spring force to be adjusted by changing the working height of the spring.
