CONSTITUTION:An upper and lower contamination decision level setter 13 for setting upper and lower contamination decision levels to be decided according to a background counting rate, a background measuring time, a contamination control counting rate and a measuring time based on a formula of assay reference for rejecting coincidence of a net counting rate obtained at an arbitrary measuring time within a predetermined measuring time with a preset contamination control counting rate with statistically sufficient reliability is provided. The two levels are compared by a comparator 18 with a radiation dose measured value to be measured by a detector 17 at an arbitrary time point within a predetermined measuring time, and when the measured value is larger than the upper level, the object to be measured is decided to have 'contamination', while when the measured value is smaller than the lower level, it is decided to have 'no contamination'.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten transferring time and to enhance processing capacity by determining the weight of an article and controlling the transfer speed to be low for heavy article whereas to be high for light article. CONSTITUTION:An article 2 to be measured is mounted on a tray 1 and the weight thereof is measured through a weight gauge 9 which delivers measurement data to a data processor 10. The processor 10 makes a decision to which relationship between preset weight ranges and transfer speeds an input signal corresponds and delivers a transfer speed signal based on a decision result to each drive section 3, 5, 7. The article 2 on the tray 1 advances, at a designated speed, on an article transfer roller 4 into an apparatus and elevated through an article elevation driving section 5 into a measuring chamber, subjected to monitoring of radioactive contamination through a radiation detector 6, lowered through the driving section 5, and then contained in a stocker 8 through a vertical stocker moving section 7. Processing capacity can be enhanced significantly by increasing the transfer speed for a light weight article 2.

And the device F adds the outputs of detectors N11 and N12, N12 and N13... arranged neighboring respectively, to obtain the added outputs Q11+Q12, Q12+Q13.... In this case, since the unevenness of sensitivity of the added outputs Q11+Q12, Q12+Q13... are uniformed artifically better than the sensitivity of individual outputs of the detectors N11, N12, N13..., an accurate measurement of the radioactive contamination can be carried out.

Either of the large or small sizes among the articles to be measured are assorted by the presence or absence of the radiations in accordance with the discrimination results in the size discriminating means 24 in the second assorting means 16. The means 16 is controlled by the control means 14. Consequently, the processing is made possible with one unit of the laundry monitor.

CONSTITUTION:The radiations entering at the angles of the radiations b, c with respect to a center line 20 pass only one of the 1st and 2nd radiation detecting means when 3 ways of the incident radiations (a), (b), (c) are considered. The signal from the detecting means is, therefore, outputted only from one detection means. The angle between the course of the radiations and the center line 20 is small on the contrary and the radiation (a) parallel or nearly parallel with the detecting means pass both the radiation detecting means and the signal is outputted from both. Only the radiations within a certain range can, therefore, be detected if only the signal to cause scintillators 13a, 13b to emit light simultaneously is detected. Since the need for a collimator using lead is eliminated by this detector, the reduction of the weight is permitted and since the detector itself has a collimating effect the detector can be brought near to a measuring object. The detection sensitivity is thus improved.
