    • PURPOSE:To obtain a steam cooled fast reactor for securing a proper safety by reducing a cooling material void reactivity to approximately 1 dollor or less by miniaturizing and flattening a reactor core, at the same time surrounding the center and perimeter of the reactor core with a neutron absorber, and then mixing a neutron deceleration material into the reactor core. CONSTITUTION:A reactor core shape is flattened and at the same time a neutron absorber 4 is laid out at the center of the reactor core and at the outer perimeter of the reactor core 1 and then a neutron deceleration material 7 which is equal to or more than approximately two times larger than the neutron deceleration performance of a steam 9 on operation of reactor is charged to the reactor core 1, thus suppressing the reactor core cooling material void reactivity to approximately 1 dollor or less. Then, non-critical state is achieved without any special reactor core designing when the reactor core is submerged and inserting a control rod into the reactor core.

    • PURPOSE:To compensate the lowering of reactivity to contrive the simplicity and the like of a nuclear reactor structure by forming a reflector area between a reactor core and the inner face of a reactor vessel and continuously dropping a particle powder-like reflector upward thereof in this area by the self-weight. CONSTITUTION:A reflector area 8 is provided at a position corresponding to a reactor core 1 on the circumferential side of a reactor stop rod elevating and lowering area 6. A neutron absorber 9 is arranged on the circumferential side of this area 8 and a quantity of neutron radiation during the whole operation of a reactor vessel 2 is made the constitution for controlling within a limiting value. A storage tank 10 is arranged at the upper position of the area 8 and the absorber 9, a particle powder-like reflector 11 is charged in this tank 10 and a gas space on the upper end of the tank 10 and another gas space on the upper end of the area 8 are communicated by a pressure regulator 12. The outlet 13 of the storage tank for opening the upper end part of the area 8 is provided on the lower end part of the tank 10. The outlet 13 is closed up by the use of a plug 14 made of low fusion material such as aluminum. On the reflector 11 the plug 14 is melted by electrical heating to open the outlet 13 and is dropped by the self-weight in the area 8 continuously.

    • PURPOSE:To achieve higher safety, an ensuring of a PU breeding ratio and the like with a lowering of the degree of coolant void reaction by surrounding an absorbent area containing fission products with a depleted uranium in a core and a blanket area near the core. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate absorbent area 2 loaded with TC as fissile product and TCO2 as compound thereof is formed near the center surface of a core 1 and set at upper and lower parts of the core area 1. A ratio of the volume held by the TC and TCO2 in the area 2 is. for example. 60%. An internal shaft blanket 3 composed of the depleted uranium is provided contacting the area 2 at upper and lower positions. A shaft blanket 4 and a diameter blanket 5are arranged on the outer circumference side of the core. When the blanket 3 is replaced with a neutron decelerator, the absorption sectional area of the fission product is larger with a lower neutron energy in general. Thus, a higher neutron absorption rate of the TC al lows increase in TCNO.
