      SOLUTION: The lighting device includes an anode 10, a metal layer 40 having electric resistance lower than that of the anode, a cathode 20 arranged between the anode and the metal layer, an organic electroluminescent section 30 arranged between the anode and the cathode, a first insulating layer 61 arranged between the cathode and the metal layer, a plurality of penetrated conductive layers 50 penetrating the organic electroluminescent section, the cathode, and the first insulating layer along a direction facing from the anode to the metal layer and electrically connecting between the anode and the metal layer and being different from the metal layer, and second insulating layers 62 arranged between the organic electroluminescent section and the cathode, and the plurality of penetrated conductive layers, respectively.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light emission efficiency in an organic electroluminescent element that uses polyethylenedioxy thiophene as a hole injection layer material.
      SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element 10 includes a pair of electrodes constituted of an anode 12 and cathode 17, which are disposed mutually separated; a first region 15a of the cathode side which includes a hole-transport host material, an electronic transport host material and an emitting dopant; and a second region 15b of the anode side which includes the hole-transport host material and excludes the electronic transporting host material. Furthermore, the organic electroluminescent element includes a light-emitting layer 15, disposed in between a pair of the electrodes; a hole injection layer 13, disposed in between the anode 12 and light-emitting layer 15 and which contains polyethylenedioxy thiophene; and a hole-transporting layer 14 which is disposed between the hole injection layer 13 and light-emitting layer 15 and which contains the hole-transport material.
