    • PURPOSE:To easily make a uniform light-scattering coating film without using any organic solvent, by heating a bulb having a light-penetrated front part and a reflector part continuous thereto above a specific temperature and coating light-scattering powder on the inside surface of the bulb by an electrostatic painting method. CONSTITUTION:The bulb 1 placed in a heating furnace 8 is heated uniformly as a whole above 200 deg.C by a heat source 9. A sprayer 10 is inserted into the bulb 1. An electrostatic power source 7 is operated to apply voltages of, for example, 63 KV and 70 KV to discharge electrodes 12a, 12b to make a potential difference. The light-scattering powder is ejected together with compressed air from a projecting pipe 11. The powder is charged by corona discharge when the powder passes through between the discharge electrodes 12a, 12b. The direction of the powder is changed by a wind regulator 14 so that the powder proceeds to the inside surface of the bulb 1. Since the bulb 1 is heated, the electric conductivity of the bulb 1 is raised and the light-penetrated front part 2 is positively charged and has the same electric conductivity as a reflecting metal film 4. As a result, the coating film is made at a uniform thickness from the powder on the entire inside surface of the bulb 1.

    • PURPOSE:To lower the heating temperature of a glass bulb, prevent the thermal strain and reduce the heating cost when powder of fluorescent substance is electrostatically painted on the inside surface of the glass bulb, by improving discharge electrodes of a sprayer for the powder to raise the charging efficiency of the powder. CONSTITUTION:The glass bulb 3 is heated at a temperature of 50 to 100 deg.C by a heat source 4 in a heating furnace 3. The sprayer 5 is put in the bulb 1. The grounded anode of an electrostatic power source 2 is connected to the bulb 1. The cathode of the power source 2 is connected to discharge electrodes 9a, 9b on a projecting pipe 6 of the sprayer 5 to make a potential difference of 40 to 64 KV to cause corona discharge. The powder of the fluorescent substance is charged by the corona discharge when the powder is ejected from the sprayer 5. The powder is charged further by corona discharge between the discharge electrodes 9a, 9b and the inside surface of the bulb 1. Thereby, the powder is electrostatically coated on the inside surface of the bulb connected to the anode. Since the heating temperature of the bulb 1 is low, the bulb is not thermally strained and high heating energy is not needed.
