摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable radio equipment capable of displaying remaining communication time and communication contents. SOLUTION: When the timeout time of communication sequences 301, 302 and 303 is respectively defined as 30 sec, 10 sec and 10 sec, a total sum S of timeout time is 50 sec. The reference value of remaining time is defined as 50 sec and picture display is performed for the remaining time of 50 sec at the time of communication start (311). Portable radio equipment 3 calls a wireless handset 5. When calling is received, the wireless handset 5 transmits a telegraphic activation message to a meter 7. When the telegraphic activation message is received, the meter 7 transmits a telegraphic response message through the wireless handset 5 to the portable radio equipment 3 (301). Then, the remaining time is displayed second by second like '50 sec', '49 sec'.... In this case, when the real communication time of the communication sequence 301 is 25 sec, at this time point, the total of the timeout time of the communication sequences 302 and 303 is defined as remaining time. Therefore, 25 sec is displayed as remaining time (312) and in the next moment, 20 sec is displayed as remaining time (313). Afterwards, similar display is performed in the communication sequences 302 and 303 as well.

SOLUTION: The communication control apparatus controls communication with a meter installed in a customer home, by utilizing a telephone line wired to the customer home. The communication controller comprising a control part which obtains a voltage of the telephone line by each prescribed period is provided and detects the change in the prescribed value or more of the voltage, thereby determining the change in the type of the telephone line. Since abrupt change of a line voltage is caused during the change construction of the type of the line, it is possible to determine the change in the type of the line by detecting it. Preferably, when the control part determines the change of the type of the telephone line, it calls out at least once to a monitor center for monitoring the meter; and when it can communicate with the monitor center by a call-out, it transmits a line type change notice to the monitor center, and when it cannot communicate therewith, it halts a communication control operation with the monitor center.

An automatic metering center 2 repeatedly originates a call and stops it so that the certain calling pattern corresponding to an inspected meter 13 is sent from the telephone exchange to the network control unit 11 so as to communicate with the inspected meter 13. The network control unit 11 confirms that calling stops after sounding in response to the incoming call.
