    • PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of the title apparatus and to achieve the miniaturization thereof by forming partition plates each having a liquid passage at a position offset from the center thereof and engaging upper and lower liquid sump parts in a freely rotatable manner by moving slidably the partition plates. CONSTITUTION:When the area of the overlap part of two partition plates 4, 5 is made max. by rotating lower and upper liquid sump parts 1, 2, the max. liquid passage is formed at the communication part of both liquid sump parts 1, 2 to allow both parts to communicate with each other. When the area of the overlap part of two partition plates 4, 5 is made min. by rotating the lower and upper liquid sump parts 1, 2, the liquid passage of the communication part is closed by the partition plates 4, 5 and the liquids of both sump parts 1, 2 are separated. As mentioned, since a structure used in place of the drain cock of a conventional solvent extractor is formed by the combination of two partition plates 4, 5, the extractive separation between liquid phases can be performed by simple operation and miniaturization is also easy because of a simple structure and the extractive separation of a small amount of a liquid specimen can be performed.

    • PURPOSE:To simply and inexpensively prevent the contamination of an alpha ray detector caused by a recoil of an alpha disintegration daughter nuclide by capturing a recoil nucleus which is emitted when a radioactive nuclide radiates alpha rays. CONSTITUTION:First of all, a contamination preventing device 5 is installed in an alpha ray detector 1, and the front of a detecting part of the alpha ray detector 1 is covered with a recoil nucleus capturing filter 6. Thereafter, when the detection of alpha rays is executed, thorium 228, etc., contained in an alpha ray source 3 are brought to alpha breakdown and the emitted alpha rays transmit through the recoil nucleus capturing filter 6 and detected by the alpha ray detector 1. Also, at the time of alpha disintegration, a recoil nucleus such as radium 224, etc., emitted from the alpha ray source 3 is captured by the recoil nucleus capturing filter 6. Subsequently, after the detection of alpha rays is ended, the contamination preventing device 5 is removed from the alpha ray detector 1 and rejected. The alpha ray detector 1 from which the contamination preventing device 5 is removed can be used repeatedly by installing a new contamination preventing device 5 again. In such a way, the contamination of the alpha ray detector caused by the recoil of an alpha disintegration daughter nuclide can be prevented simply and inexpensively.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate integrity confirmation during non-destructive inspection by providing a neck part with a diameter smaller than a bevel part outer diameter in between an end plug body and the bevel part. SOLUTION: The outer diameter of bevel part 23 formed in one with an end plug body 22 of a sealing plug 21 inserted and welded in the open end of a clad 9 is set nearly equal to the inner diameter of the clad 9 to facilitate the insertion. And between the end plug body 22 and a bevel part 23, a neck part 24 with a diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the bevel part 23 is provided to facilitate the confirmation of the welding during non-destructive inspection. Also, a groove 25 is provided around the bevel part 23 to improve welding capability. By this, when a fuel rod 20 constituting fuel assembly loaded in a reactor is fabricated and the clad 9 and the seal end plug 21 are welded for sealing, the positioning of the bevel part 23 of the seal end plug 21 inserting into the clad 9 is easily performed and thus, the welding of the clad 9 and the seal end plug 21 can be surely made.
