    • PURPOSE:To eliminate NH 4 effectively by adding an alkalization agent to set the pH of a sample water at a specified value or above thereby accelerating the reaction of NH 4 NH3 and purging NH3 through bubbling of N2. CONSTITUTION:An ON/OFF valve 2 is opened to introduce a sample water into a reaction chamber 3 and then an alkalization agent is added from a storage tank 9 to the sample water by operating a pump 10 thus conditioning the pH of the sample water to 12 or above. At the same time, N2 gas is introduced into the sample water from a bubbler 5 through a supply line 6 and the sample water is stirred to mix the sample water and the alkalization agent uniformly thus accelerating the reaction NH 4 -NH3 and purging NH3 from the sample water. After removing NH 4 sufficiently from the sample water, the sample water overflowed into an overflow tank 31 is introduced to a sodium ion(Na ) measuring unit 13 where Na is detected accurately.

    • PURPOSE: To perform a calibration without error at low cost regardless of the base concentration of a sample water by correcting the base concentration of the sample water with a specified expression. CONSTITUTION: A reference solution 8 is first added to a sample water to carry a calibration solution to an analyzer, and when the indicated value is stabilized the electromotive force of a sensor 1 in the calibration solution is fitted to a calibration concentration A determined by the diluting ratio of the sample water quantity to the reference solution regardless of the base concentration X of the sample water. The sample water is then measured to read the electromotive force of the sample water, a calibration curve is formed according to the Nernst's expression, and the sample water concentration C is determined from this calibration curve. The sample water concentration C is substituted in the expression X=(A×C)/(A-C) to calculate the sample water concentration X. In the expression, A is the calibration concentration, C is the appearant concentration of the sample water, and X is the true concentration of the sample water. The sample water concentration X is added to the calibration concentration to correct the calibration curve. The above operation is performed by the arithmetic processing by a microcomputer 4.

A transpired gaseous pH adjusting reagent G is introduced into a pH adjusting chamber 6 together with the air A via a gaseous-reagent flow passage 24. Sample water S in a prescribed quantity is supplied to the adjusting chamber 6 via a sample-water supply passage 7, the gaseous reagent G which is introduced into the adjusting chamber 6 is dissolved in the sample water S, and the sample water S is adjusted so as to become a prescribed pH. When the pH-adjusted sample water S flows inside a measuring cell 5, a prescribed analytical operation is performed.
