The transmission stations #ST1 to #ST8 each: determine whether a frame signal is received from an adjacent transmission station; transmit, when no frame signal is received, a route confirmation frame signal for route confirmation to adjacent transmission stations; and set, when the route confirmation frame is replied from either of the adjacent transmission stations, the transmission station itself served as a terminal station instead of a current terminal station to make ring-shaped connections, so that the signal is not delivered to following transmission stations.

At this time, monitoring circuits 7, 8 monitor a reference timing error and a dummy frame length error, and a monitoring operation command circuit 6 issues a command to transmit a synchronous station switching signal to a transmission control station 3 when the reference timing error occur. Hereinafter, a function as a synchronous control station is transferred from the station S1 to a station S3 that is a spare synchronous station, and the reference timing signal R2 is supplied from a separate reference timing signal generator 2 to the station S3.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain system function by inhibiting repeat normally in one of plural node stations connected into a loop by a pair of clockwise and counterclockwise transmission lines but starting repeat there if abnormality occurs. CONSTITUTION:Plural nodes 101-10n are connected into a loop by a counterclockwise transmission line 4 and a clockwise transmission line 4. One of nodes 10i, for example, the node 10n is defined as the switch node, and repeat of a signal from above is inhibited normally in the switch node. If data frames received by the switch node 10n in both directions within a certain time do not coincide with each other, lines are judged to be abnormal and repeat of the signal is started. Thus, system functions are maintained to prevent the complete stop of the system, and the abnormal position is located easily to quickly perform the abnormality processing.
