    • PURPOSE:To prevent an accident of a bearing beforehand by detecting a vibration of relative displacement between a rotary body and bearing by means of a non-contact type displacement detector and identifying an abnormality of the bearing by a linear condition of a negative side envelope curve of displacement signal corrugation at the time of metal contact. CONSTITUTION:Two detectors 8a, 8b are arranged with 90 deg. shift from each other on the same plane orthogonal to an axis of rotation 1. When a value of corrugated amplitude (x) of vibration grows considerably larger than a negative load side corrugation pulsates, some abnormality of a bearing 3 on the verge of occurrence can be presumed. As for a corrugation in a condition of metal contact brought about perfectly due to occurrence of poor lubrication on a thrust collar 2 and a guide bearing 3, the value of amplitude (x) of vibration of the corrugation grows larger and it turns into a special corrugation which has a definite negative side peak value and a linear negative side envelope curve -W, while a positive side envelope curve +W is largely vibrating. Lopsided hitting is thus generated and, as a result of restriction on whirling of an axis of the thrust collar 2, the negative side envelope curve -W becomes definite to form the special corrugation with unsymmetrical positive and negative sides.
