SOLUTION: Electrode layers 2b each containing active carbon are formed on both surfaces of a conductive current collection foil 2a to form an electrode sheet 2. A laminate 20 in which the electrode sheets 2 are laminated is pressed with L-shaped lead plates 3 and assembled, a lead portion 2c of each of the electrode sheets 2 and a current collection wall 31 of the L-shaped lead plate are subjected to fillet welding to form an electrode sheet assembly 21. An insulation band 22 consisting of an insulation paper such as a cellulose-based paper, containing an electrolyte and having insulation is wound so as to cover the circumferential periphery of the exposed electrode sheets 2. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of an electric double layer capacitor comprises an ultrasonic junction process for laminating a conductive spacer 12 on an anvil 22 in which irregularities are formed on the surface, and an electrode sheet 20 in which a layer 16 containing an active material is formed on both the surfaces of current collection foil 14 made of metal containing aluminum so that a lead section 18 remains while the conductive spacer 12 is in contact with the lead section 18, and pressing the electrode sheet 20 by an ultrasonic horn 24 in which irregularities are formed on the surface and applying ultrasonic waves for joining, thus obtaining an electrode sheet having a spacer; a lamination process for alternately arranging the electrode sheet having a spacer and a separator and arranging adjacent electrode sheets having a spacer in a stagger for obtaining a laminate; and a pressing process for pressing the lamination section between the conductive spacer 12 and the lead section 18. SOLUTION: An electric double layer capacitor 10 is filled with electrolyte on the inside of an L-shaped lead plate 3 provided with a terminal connection plug 6. The terminal connection plug 6 consists of a male plug 61 having substantially T-shaped cross-section and inserted through a predetermined clearance to the circumferential edge of the fixing hole 32a of the L-shaped lead plate 3, and a female plug 62 having substantially T-shaped cross-section and mating with the male plug 61. When the male plug 61 and the female plug 62 hold the L-shaped lead plate 3 therebetween, the terminal connection plug 6 is secured to the L-shaped lead plate 3 and an O-ring 63 is arranged in a space surrounded by the male plug 61, the female plug 62 and the circumferential edge of the fixing hole 32a.
