      SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the electrode for the electrochemical capacitor comprises a step for coating a stripe current collector 16 carried in the length direction with a film L2 of a polarizable electrode layer 18 having a predetermined width such that an uncoated area 16a is left at least at one end of the current collector 16 in the width direction, and a step for detecting the boundary between the coated area and the uncoated area 16a of the polarizable electrode layer 18 on the current collector 16 wherein the feedback control of the coating step is carried out such that the boundary becomes a predetermined position based on detection results from the detection step. Since the forming position of the polarizable electrode layer 18 can be controlled with high precision, a largest capacity can be secured without the sacrifice of easiness in assembling even when a part of the current collector 16 is used as a lead-out electrode.
