    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an end bearing at low cost without using Cu or Pb by composing a body portion of a press worked steel plate, and applying Sn plating with a specific thickness to the inner surface or proximity of an inner peripheral cylindrical portion and the other part of the body portion. SOLUTION: This end bearing 1 includes a body portion 5 comprising a ring-like radial direction portion 2 and an inner peripheral cylindrical portion 3 and an outer peripheral cylindrical portion 4 respectively axially extending from the inner periphery and the outer periphery of this radial direction portion 2, and has a U-shaped cross section. A steel plate such as SPCC of the body portion 5 is press worked, Sn plating 6 is applied only to the inner surface of the inner peripheral cylindrical portion 3, and then Sn plating 7 is applied to the whole. Total thickness of the Sn platings 6, 7 on the inner surface of the inner peripheral cylindrical portion 3 is set in a range between 5 μm and 25 μm, and the thickness of the Sn plating 7 in the other part is less than 3 μm. Therefore, one kind of Sn platings 6, 7 are used, so that manufacture is allowed at low cost.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an increase in thickness of a synthetic resin layer as small as possible even in use under a high temperature condition, by applying annealing to a cylindrical bearing formed by bending a back plate and the synthetic resin layer. SOLUTION: A plate-shaped material for manufacturing a cylindrical bearing has a synthetic resin layer 5 formed by sintering copper powder 3 in a steel back plate 2 and its surface to be impregnated with a fluororesin 4. After the plate-shaped material 1 is cut into required width and length, the material is cylindrically bent with the synthetic resin layer 5 in the inside, and both the end parts butt to each other, so that a cylindrical bearing 7 with the internal peripheral surface serving as a bearing surface 6 is manufactured. Thereafter, annealing is applied to the cylindrical bearing 7, and when it is manufactured by bending the plate-shaped material 1, residual stress in the synthetic resin layer 5 is released. On the other hand, after a bar-shaped material 11 is cut into prescribed length, a housing 14 having a hole 12 is formed by forging, an internal peripheral surface of the hole 12 is cut, and the cylindrical bearing 7 is fixedly press fitted to a work surface 12a of the hole.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain excellent surface accuracy of a bearing by forming a long groove along an axial direction in an internal surface of a hole of a housing, forming an angle being cross each side wall of this long groove with an internal peripheral surface of the hole, respectively in a specific value or more, so as to prevent that a surface pressure in a contact part between an angular part and a cylindrical bearing is excessively increased to generate local contact. SOLUTION: In the case of press fitting a cylindrical bearing 3 into a hole 2 of a housing 1, generation of contact unevenness can be suppressed by press fitting the cylindrical bearing 3 into the hole 2 so as to press open a long groove 7, even when a press fit margin between the cylindrical bearing 3 and the hole 2 is a little dispersed, even particularly the press fit margin is a little increased. In the case of press fitting, galling is difficult to be generated, by forming a circular arc surface 8 between each side wall 7a of the long groove 7 and an internal peripheral surface of the hole 2, and the cylindrical bearing 3 can be smoothly press fitted into the hole 2. An angle θ, being cross each side wall 7a of the long groove 7 with an internal peripheral surface of the hole 2, is formed at 150 deg. or more, local contact can be prevented.
