    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method for steel, by which steel having suppressed central segregation can be manufactured even if the drawing speed and the like are changed in continuous casting using a reduction method for a cast slab containing a non-solidified part.SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for steel, a cast slab containing a non-solidified part is subjected to rolling-reduction, and further the molten steel in the non-solidified part is made to flow and stirred using an electromagnetic stirring apparatus on the upper stream side of the position of rolling-reduction in the casting direction. A unidirectional stirred flow, which is generated by the electromagnetic stirring apparatus and goes from one of the short sides of the cast slab to the other short side, is reversed for every predetermined direction-holding time T0. The flow of the molten steel is controlled so that the average flow speed U of molten steel that is expressed by formula (1) below is made ≥8.6 cm/s, and T0/T that is the ratio between the direction-holding time T0 and whole width moving time T (T=W/U, wherein W is the width of a non-solidified part of a cast slab) satisfies 1.0≤T0/T≤4.0. Formula (1) is represented: U=A(HF), wherein H is the depth [m] of a non-solidified part of a cast slab, F is the Lorentz force density [N/m] at the center of a cross-section of a cast slab, and A and n are constants to be defined by equipment.
