    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve profile irregularity of a cutting plane of the material to be cut, by suppressing variation of an overall width, for the wire for a wire saw formed by twisting a plurality of steel wires.SOLUTION: Wire 10 for a wire saw is constituted by twisting three steel wires 11 with a twist pitch of 3-10 mm. The steel wires 11 are paralleled in an equilateral triangle in the section of wire 10. Accordingly, in comparison with the wire for a conventional wire saw formed by twisting two steel wires or twisting four steel wires in a diamond shape, a difference (variation) between the maximum width and the minimum width is small and a cutting stock becomes almost fixed, and thereby the profile irregularity of the cutting plane of the material to be cut is improved. The gaps among the three twisting steel wires 11 are recessed to enable abrasive particles to easily get in there, so that abrasive particle holding capability is high and cutting speed is improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form concave parts for holding grinding particles on a surface of a wire for a wire saw not by passing a step for physically pushing and pressing.SOLUTION: Brass plating is applied to a surface of a wire 10 and is subjected to electrolytic polishing processing, thereby concave parts 12a for holding grinding particles g are formed on the surface of a brass plating layer 12.
