    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve follow up characteristic in detecting land prepit LPP and decoding of address information in comparison with a method of binarized threshold feedback, and probability of detecting a correct address even if the threshold deviates from an appropriate value.
      SOLUTION: A push-pull signal reproduced from an optical disk is compared with the threshold and binarized. An LPP width of the binarized LPP signal in each measurement interval is measured and stored in a register. An address decoder initially sets a limiting value Wlim to be 1 for judging as noise, and sets 1 by assuming existence of the LPP when the width of LPP is larger than Wlim. Then, the data pattern is decoded. When a correct result of decoding the address is obtained while Wlim is set 1, 2, ... incrementing in order, the decoding of address is finished.

Thereafter, the output signal of the subtracting circuit 7 is substrated from a reference amplitude signal which is to be transmitted from a reference amplitude generating means 9 by a subtracting circuit 8 and then the amplitude of the reproduced signal is corrected by controlling the gain of a variable amplifier 2 while using the output of the circuit 8 as a gain control signal.
