      SOLUTION: In the method of the electroslag welding of the diaphragm in the box section column, a welding wire 8 is fused and welded with a skin plate 2 and the diaphragm 1. A bevel is provided between the side face of either one of the skin plate 2 or the diaphragm 1 and the end face of the other facing the side face of the one, and both sides of the bevel are enclosed with a backing board 4. Molten slag 7 is made to intervene in the bevel, and the welding wire 8 is put into the molten slag 7 and is electrified. The welding wire 8 is continuously supplied into the molten slag 7 and moved upward. The sectional form of the end face of the other is made sharply pointed.

The ends of the steel beam is fastened at two positions of a base end and a tip end of the bracket while at least one part is pin-joined of flanges with a sear-strength transmitting bolt 12, so as to enlarge the sear strength applied to the steel beam using the principle of leverage and to transmit it to the bracket.
