    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-sided original conveying and reading device which will not necessitate a new mechanism and the change of mechanism for removing paper particles.
      SOLUTION: The double-sided original conveying and reading device carries out a double-sided original reading procedure, wherein an image on the front side of an original 4 is read, the original 4 is inverted and conveyed to read an image on the rear side of the original 4 and then discharged or carries out a single-sided original reading procedure, wherein the image on the front side of the original 4 is read and the original 4 is discharged selectively. The reading device is provided with an original reading unit 22 for reading the image on the original 4 passing through a reading glass 22a, an original automatic paper supplying unit 2 for conveying the original 4 and a driving control unit 3 for controlling the original automatic paper supplying unit 2. The driving control unit 3 controls the original automatic paper supplying unit 2 to invert and convey the original again until discharging the original 4 after reading the original 4, and makes the original 4 sag upon passing through the reading glass 22a to bring into contact with the reading glass 22a to carry out a paper particle removing process for removing the paper particles on the reading glass 22a.
